Dear Baby Girl,

Yup, that’s right, you’re a girl! Well, at least that’s what they say. So, we’ve started calling you little A. And, assuming you are actually a girl and no serial killer named A goes on a rampage then that will be your name. If you were a boy we were going to call you Oscar.

It’s nice knowing you’re a girl. I think it humanises everything. Your Dad is already totally besotted with you. I can see that you’re going to be able to walk all over him if you want to. Lucky you’ll have me to reign you in!

So, this week you’ve been jumping around like crazy. I’ve been unwell, lying on the couch, barely able to keep my eyes open, and you’ve been jumping around like there’s a party in my belly! I actually think you had the hiccups for the first time yesterday. That was interesting. I actually thought you were kicking with remarkable rhythm, and was beginning to think I might have a musical prodigy on my hands … alas, it appears it was probably just hiccups. Pretty cute though!

Tonight, I’m off to the midwife. After struggling to get into one of my work skirts this morning I’m thinking today might be the day I find out I’ve put on weight. I’ve been OK up until now. Nausea and vomiting equals no weight gain. I think that might all be over … I guess I need to just accept that as normal and move on.

In other news, this week your Dad and I go to New Zealand for what is best described as a babymoon. I can’t wait! Bubba, I’m hoping that 10 days off work and some rest gets rid of the morning sickness. So, rest, swim around in there and enjoy the relaxation. Mumma needs a break!
